Karen Silve (Illinois, 1969) es una artista con base en Portland, Oregón, que también pasa temporadas trabajando en Provenza, Francia. Su trayectoria comenzó en la pintura figurativa y de naturaleza, para luego evolucionar hacia la abstracción. Estudió con Alvin Sella en la Universidad de Alabama, y posteriormente en la Leo Marchutz School (IAU, Aix-en-Provence), donde su enfoque se consolidó en el uso del color y la conexión con la naturaleza, fundamentos que aún guían su práctica.
Su obra forma parte de colecciones privadas, corporativas y públicas, incluyendo la del Consulado de EE. UU. en Monterrey, México. Ha expuesto en centros de arte y museos de Estados Unidos, Europa, Medio Oriente y Asia, con exhibiciones individuales en instituciones como el Portland Performing Arts Center, el Visual Art Center of Northwest Florida y, próximamente, la Galerie Domnine en Sisteron, Francia.
Ha recibido becas de la Oregon Arts Commission, la Family Ford Foundation y la Regional Arts and Culture Council, y fue artista residente en Texas A&M University.

Karen Silve (born 1969, Illinois) is an artist based in Portland, Oregon, who also spends part of her time working in Provence, France. Her practice has evolved from figurative and nature-based painting to abstraction. She studied with Alvin Sella at the University of Alabama and later at the Leo Marchutz School (Institute for American Universities) in Aix-en-Provence, where her approach became grounded in color and a deep connection to nature—elements that continue to shape her work today.
Silve’s paintings are held in private, corporate, and public collections, including the U.S. Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico. Her solo exhibitions include venues such as the Portland Performing Arts Center, the Visual Art Center of Northwest Florida, and the upcoming Galerie Domnine in Sisteron, France. She has also participated in international group shows in Doha, Monterrey, Brunei, Venice, and cities across the U.S. and the U.K.
She is a grant recipient from the Oregon Arts Commission, the Family Ford Foundation, and the Regional Arts and Culture Council, and has served as an artist-in-residence at Texas A&M University.

"Sometimes my work comes directly from interacting with and responding to nature. Other times it’s a search for resolution.
Emotions are my subject. My work doesn’t encompass a scene of nature, but rather natural elements. In one painting I may incorporate colors and marks inspired from hiking in the Pacific Northwest and swimming in the Mediterranean sea at the same time. My images are not real nor imaginary spaces, but rather expressions from multiple environments to create an emotion.
My narrative paintings encompass a journey of emotions. In my dialog paintings I strive to create a harmony from our difference; bridging our similarities with the use of color and marks. The process of painting brings me clarity and a voice for expressing myself. In search for honesty in my work, I paint from the gut and allow my subconscious to reveal itself."

"A veces mi trabajo surge directamente de la interacción con la naturaleza y la respuesta a ella. Otras veces es una búsqueda de resolución.
Las emociones son mi tema. Mi obra no abarca una escena de la naturaleza, sino elementos naturales. En un cuadro puedo incorporar colores e impresiones inspirados en una excursión por el noroeste del Pacífico y en un baño en el mar Mediterráneo al mismo tiempo.
Mis imágenes no son espacios reales ni imaginarios, sino expresiones de múltiples entornos para crear una emoción.
Mis pinturas narrativas abarcan un viaje de emociones. En mis cuadros dialogados me esfuerzo por crear una armonía a partir de nuestras diferencias, tendiendo puentes entre nuestras similitudes mediante el uso del color y las marcas. El proceso de pintar me aporta claridad y una voz para expresarme. En busca de la honestidad en mi trabajo, pinto desde las entrañas y dejo que mi subconsciente se revele".
