"My artistic practice is an intimate exploration of color, form, and material as emotional vehicles. Through an abstract language, I aim to create atmospheres that invite contemplation, inner silence, and a sensory connection with the viewer.

I work with textures, transparencies, and organic forms that emerge from an intuitive process, where each layer of color, each gesture, and each material applied becomes part of a non-verbal emotional narrative. Painting, for me, is both a physical and spiritual act—a way to listen to what cannot be expressed in words.

Color fusion—subtle, at times explosive—is essential in my work. I seek to let colors meet, dissolve, embrace, or resist one another, creating tensions and harmonies that reflect internal states and deep emotions.

Living between Mexico City and Madrid allows me to engage in constant dialogue with diverse creative scenes. It inspires movement, observation, and the understanding of how art transforms spaces, cities, and people. It also keeps me closely connected to collectors, curators, and art fairs, enriching the evolution of my practice.

Rather than represent something concrete, my work seeks to evoke. It is an invitation to pause, feel, and inhabit color and material from an intimate and personal place."

Paola Montemayor, nacida en 1973, es una artista visual mexicana dedicada a la abstracción contemporánea. Estudió Diseño Textil en la Universidad Iberoamericana y es diplomada en Diseño de Interiores.

Desde 1994 ha explorado diversas técnicas y lenguajes visuales. Sus estudios incluyen dibujo y pintura en México y Guatemala, así como técnicas de tinta en Moscú. Paola crea obras que se centran en la textura, la transparencia y las formas orgánicas, dando lugar a composiciones envolventes. Divide su tiempo entre Ciudad de México y Madrid, y se relaciona con coleccionistas y comisarios de ambas regiones. Sus piezas aparecen en proyectos arquitectónicos y ferias de arte internacionales, fomentando una conexión entre arte y diseño.

Paola invita al espectador a explorar los aspectos emocionales de la forma y el color, creando una experiencia visual única.

Paola Montemayor, born in 1973, is a Mexican visual artist engaged in contemporary abstraction. She studied Textile Design at the Ibero-American University and holds a diploma in Interior Design.

Since 1994, she has explored various techniques and visual languages. Her studies include drawing and painting in Mexico and Guatemala, as well as ink techniques in Moscow.
