Stéphane Halbout is a French artist from Ougney, in the Jura region of France. After initially studying communication, he turned to drawing and painting, beginning with charcoal and pastel portraits in the late 1990s.

His early work explored the curves of the female body through series of nudes, including the monochrome ink works Traits de Femmes, which laid the foundations of a pictorial language based on line, gesture, and movement. Influenced in part by the work of J.M.W. Turner, his painting gradually evolved toward more open compositions focused on light, material, and atmosphere.

Working from his studio in the Jura since 2006, Halbout develops a practice centered on gesture and material, often experimenting with media such as charcoal, ink, and bitumen.

His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections in France and internationally.

Stéphane Halbout es un artista francés originario de Ougney, en la región del Jura (Francia). Tras estudiar comunicación, se orientó hacia el dibujo y la pintura, comenzando a finales de los años noventa con retratos en carbón y pastel.

Sus primeras obras exploraron las curvas del cuerpo femenino a través de series de desnudos, entre ellas las tintas monocromas Traits de Femmes, que sentaron las bases de un lenguaje pictórico centrado en la línea, el gesto y el movimiento. Influido en parte por la obra de J. M. W. Turner, su pintura evolucionó hacia composiciones más abiertas, donde la luz, la materia y la atmósfera adquieren un papel central.

Desde 2006 trabaja en su estudio en el Jura, donde desarrolla una práctica centrada en el gesto y la materialidad, experimentando con medios como el carbón, la tinta o el betún.

Su obra ha sido presentada en exposiciones individuales y colectivas y forma parte de colecciones privadas en Francia y en el ámbito internacional.
